Remember My Name Laurie Block with Patricia Deegan and Bestor Cram, Co-Producers.
Remember My Name is a short film documentary about a remarkable group of grassroots community activists – ex-patient, psychiatric survivors – who restored the cemetery of the Danvers, MA Hospital for the Insane. This is a story about the “other segregation”: the poorest of the poor, the indigent mentally ill who lie in unnamed graves on the grounds of abandoned state hospitals throughout our nation, and the community that is demanding that these dead must have a memorial. It is a story about resilience, the politics of memory, and who shall speak for a deeply stigmatized minority.
